11 Months!
Grant is now 11 months old! Only 1 more month until the big day! Grant now says Mama and Dada and doggie but it is more like dohey! Grant is standing on his own - no hands!! He doesn't do it that often, but he can when he feels like staying still! He's just too active to sit still for 10 seconds! And he really likes to cruise the cabinets, walls, and furniture ... he gets around quite well doing that! But that means he gets into more things ... like the garbage or the glass Pyrex bowls ... we are working at putting locks on our cabinets!! And the not so cute thing he has learned lately is throwing temper tantrums. I seriously didn't think it started this early but it has. I remember other mom's struggling with this same issue at Grant's age, but never really thought anything of it. But here we are, facing the same thing everyone else goes through. He will cry and arch his back going into his car seat, stroller, or highchair .... basically anything that ties him down. Grant understands no, but choses not to follow it. He will look at you and do whatever he was going to do anyways, so we have moved on to doing a little flick on the hand while saying no, which he gets very mad at and has tried to bite me or pull my hair while screaming. So, we definitely have good and bad days with the little guy! It's just a new aspect of parenting that we need to figure out and find what works best for us! If anyone has suggestions on good resources on discipline books I would love to know!

this sounds exactly like alexis! she gets mad and lays on the floor and kicks when I take something away from her. haha.. we have been just giving her a little tap on the hand also.. but that doesn't seem to work either :( like grant she has also discovered biting! and her newest thing is slapping me in the face. if you hear anything good let me know as well :) hope you guys are doing good! Grants almost 1 yay!
Hey there! Welcome to "my child has his own will and his sin nature is evident even at 11 months old!" I have lots of books I've poured over and taken a little of this and a little of that. You're on the right track in not letting him get away with it. The longer you let him win, the harder it is to reign in the behavior! Your mom said you might be coming up this week. If you do, stop by for a cup of tea. I have lots of little entertainers to help with Grant!
